Lower Ninth Ward Village

The internet down here does not permit me to upload any pictures. So I will do the next best thing until I can edit in some of them, provide a link to the village's website. Ward "Mack" McClendon is the initial visionary of the center. He has been taking pictures regularly and updating the web page with them.

As this week comes to a close, we begin to shift our focus to the CHASE competition. All further updates will likely be regarding the our submission to the contest and the information that we are gathering down here for it.

Rebuilding

Sorry about the delay in starting the blog, internet access is harder to come by than first expected down here. We have been attending the USGBC volunteer reconstruction efforts since Monday. Everyday we split into groups and work with other volunteers to help with the rebuilding efforts. Some of the projects that we have been working on are rain gardens, repainting, radiant barrier installation and house deconstruction, to name a few. The members of the community are extremely grateful for the help and have been very vocal in expressing this. I encourage anyone who is interested in helping in the future to do so. The efforts will continue every spring for years to come.

That is the gist of what we have been doing the past few days. When I get a chance I will put up some names of key members and post pictures that people have taken.

Here's the new blog, everyone. This intent of this is to keep a record of our activities for the duration of our New Orleans studio trip. It will be updated for two weeks, the 18th (edit) of March through the 30th. Further updates will be performed as fit following our return.
